Aside from volunteering, I was also very involved in my high school and community through my participation in various activities.
In my high school, I was an active member of the Student Council and Drama Program. Through the Student Council, I became a leader in my school and community. I improved my teamwork and leadership skills and made a difference. In the Drama Program, I acted in two major plays and some smaller skits. Partaking in theatre helped me grow into a more confident version of myself. I made lifelong friends while improving my public speaking, communication, collaboration, social awareness, problem-solving, and adaptability.
I played on my secondary school's Track and Field Team, Volleyball Team, Basketball Team, Badminton Team, and Soccer Team. I am honoured to have received Most Sportsmanlike in Volleyball, Basketball, and Track and Field, as well as Most Valuable Player in Track and Field.
Outside of school, I am proud to have figure-skated for nine years and played minor soccer for 10+ years. Participating in sports in my community allowed me to meet new people, travel provincially, expand my skills, stay fit, and provide a healthy emotional outlet.
I play the piano and guitar, sing, and write songs. I started in high school and have improved immensely. I began playing the guitar when I was 13. I started lessons a year later. Then I began singing and performing with my younger sister when I was 14. When I was 15, I wrote my first full song. By the time I was 16, I began performing solo. I also began piano lessons. Performing has helped push me outside my comfort zone and improve public speaking. Here is a link to my YouTube channel, where I plan to release some of my music in late 2025!
I also enjoyed photography. I got to look at my community and friends through a different lens (literally!) and explore my creative side. This is a link to my photography page containing some of the photos I took and edited in high school.
